Midnight Ride
For our last semester in DDGT we were tasked to complete a final project that required us to use all the skills we learned from the programs that was used in the past semesters. For my project I decided to show a movie-like scene from one of my favorite anime, the story shows two drivers racing along side each other, pass mountains and trees with a goal of beating the other to the other side, until an unsuspecting trouble comes their way.
The vehicles in the scene were modeled in seven different parts in Inventor, while the Environment was modeled in 3DS Max. After modeling the vehicles in Inventor they were also transferred into 3DS Max for Rigging and material work. Lighting, cameras, and animation was also done in the same program as well as rendering. I used both Adobe After Effects and Premiere for editing the video and adding sound effects as well as the final touches of the project.
The whole project took the entire semester to finish, hence there were a lot of good and bad memories that were attached to it. Some hardships I experienced came right away at the start when I modeled the vehicles, modeling takes a lot of time and it was something that I wasn't efficient in at the time, fortunately I was able to work my way around it and have it look decent for the video. One of my favorite memories from this project though was working on the sound and music, experimenting on the sound effects and dialogue took a lot of planning on the timing and making sure that the audio would be clear to the audience. Overall, I thought this project was fun and challenging enough for the students to learn new knowledge and even use past knowledge that we learned early on from the program.
