For this project, I had to model, animate, and 3D print a 3 piston engine concept model. It was modeled in Inventor. The fun part of the project was being able to modify the engine and make it my own. I was able to customize it and give it legs to stand on. After making the base model, the project was split into two. Firstly, I worked on importing the model into 3DS Max. From there I had to rig it by creating bones to control how everything can move. After that, I added lights, cameras, and materials. I used the Arnold renderer to create each frame, then took the frames into Premier Pro and stitched them into a video. After that was done, I modified the model to make it 3D printable which included making sure there was space between everything on the model. The printer we have can print dissolvable support with the main material which allows us to print the assembly in one piece. The model was reviewed and edited multiple times until everyone was confident with the model and the tolerances. Overall, the project was fun and challenging. I liked taking the same model and modifying it for multiple purposes.
