The Final Project is a culmination of all of the knowledge we have learned in the DDGT program at Napa Valley College. We started by brainstorming ideas that would showcase the broadest scope, diversity and knowledge of the programs we've learned. Even though we were working remotely, we decided to work as a small group. First we developed a Gantt chart to divide tasks, and a storyboard to develop the narrative. My focus on this project was the overall environment. I started by modeling the garage in the Autodesk Architecural Modeling program Revit. Then the fun continued in Autodesk 3ds Max where I created the environment where our models would be animated. As the project evolved, more 3d models were added, the environment got fine tuned and now we are ready to start animation! From creating cameras to rigging the story starts to unfold. Once the animated sequences were rendered, we took our work into Adobe After Effects and Premiere for post production. There sound was added, and sequences were placed according to our storyboard.
And after all that a little story called "Trickery" was born. From the rolling sandy landscape, rocky outcroppings and winding road we created a story that takes an unfortunate driver through the middle of a desert landscape where they find themselves with a popped tire. Low and behold there is an oasis, a service station right after the dreaded incident. What a wonderful coincidence... or is it?
As this project and this program comes to a close, I’ve come to realize how they have taught us the benefits and challenges of working in a team, how to communicate, be able to teach yourself the intricacies of the different programs and to incorporate the different skills we have learned to create an animated story.
Thank you DDGT and thank you Gary!
**This video was rendered as a preview, as we were rendering from our home computers. The full rendered animation will be completed once we are allowed into the computer lab.**
