AutoCAD

Autodesk’s AutoCAD is mainly used for technical drawings. From concept to production, these working drawings that are made with AutoCAD turn ones ideas or dreams into a reality. When dealing with AutoCAD, it is important to understand how working drawings are read because they become legal documents throughout production. Other programs that support and enhance AutoCAD’s abilities include Autodesk’s Inventor and Revit.

Product Design

Here are some product design projects.  Designing three dimensionally is a bit different than designing something that is two-dimensional.  When creating something can be held, or viewed from many different angles, you have to take in consideration other things such as angle, ergonomics, scale, materials, or texture.  There is also a psychological aspect of design that happens and is something to think about when designing tangible something tangible.

UC Davis inspired Bike Table

Davis California is notorious for its bicycle culture. With bike parts repurposed throughout its design, this table reflects the iconic bicycle, the main transportation students of UC Davis rely on.  The Bike Table was constructed with “cradle-to-cradle design” in mind, incorporating parts found to be trash of other people to retain the smallest carbon footprint possible.  It was then published in the April/May issue of American Craft Magazine in 2012.
