Wheel Project
(AutoCAD)

Working Drawing Sheet Set

This was one of the first major projects I completed during my second semester in the Digital Design Graphics Technology (DDGT) program. The assignment further strengthened my understanding of how to develop a complete working drawing package from an initial concept. The project focused on taking a rough sketch with provided dimensions and transforming it into a fully organized and professional drawing set using AutoCAD.

I began by recreating the design from the supplied sketch, carefully applying dimensions to ensure accuracy throughout the modeling process. From there, I developed the project into a complete working drawing sheet set. This included a cover page featuring 3D assembly views to help visualize the finished product, as well as an exploded assembly page illustrating how each individual component fit together.

In addition to the assembly drawings, I also created a detailed drawing sheet containing the dimensions and technical information necessary to properly interpret and manufacture the design.

This project was later revisited as part of a revision assignment, where modifications were reviewed and evaluated by my instructor. The revisions reflected my continued growth in both AutoCAD proficiency and the overall engineering design process.

Please find below the original sheet set, including the cover page, exploded assembly view, and detailed drawing page for the project. Feel free to click on the images for a better view.

After completing the original project, the follow-up assignment focused on modifying and improving the existing design. While the revisions were relatively minor, they demonstrated how small engineering changes can significantly affect the appearance and functionality of a design.

For the revised version, I modified the taper angle on the wheel, relocated the rivet positions, and changed the diameter of the hub ring. These adjustments subtly altered the overall profile and appearance of the assembly compared to the original design.

Please find below the revised detail drawing, along with rendered 3D images of the updated wheel assembly to better visualize how the final product could appear in a real-world application.
